Camping Made Comfortable!
During our honeymoon trip in the beginning of March this proved to be the best location we stayed in for seeing the big cats. After 2 nights here we headed into the central Serengeti which seemed a common theme amongst the other guests too.The camp itself was relatively small (with around 9 guests tents) and is non-permanent so moves location around the park depending on the time of year.
We enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommend all the Asilia properties we stayed at. This is a lot more of a rustic 'tent' experience than staying in a lodge, but going to sleep listening to the sounds of the wildlife is pretty special - we also spotted zebra, giraffe and wildebeest from the camp which made it an experience.
This is an Eco camp, so water is precious and the bucket shower system works by requesting a hot shower in advance, so the staff go and fill up the buckets with hot water. The staff however were always happy to help, and the wake up calls with hot drinks and cookies were wonderful, and we loved the hot water bottles they put in the bed at night!"

Safari with a twist!
The team at Rubondo Island Camp epitomised for us our experience of 2 other Asilia camps on the same trip, Charming, attentive and providing hospitality to a high standard.
Rubondo is however different to other safari lodges as you have the opportunity to walk through the forests and beaches to get up close to the local wildlife. The hippos snort and the elephants grumble at you - but keep their distance, leaving you to explore the small creatures and the amazing variety of birds.
No doubt that our highlight was fishing for Nile Perch with Henk as our guide and keeping just one of the catch - for dinner!"

Five Star Treatment in a Tented Camp
During our 45th wedding anniversary trip at the beginning of March this proved to be our favourite tented camp, The attitude and service from Richard and his staff was better than many 5 star hotels in the UK!
The tents were beautifully furnished and equipped and we actually enjoyed having bucket showers!
The chef managed amazing cuisine from his tent and we were thrilled to have an 'African' singing/dancing display as we were presented with an enormous iced anniversary cake. Special dietary requests were easily dealt with and it was a great end to our safari. We would love to go back one day. Asante!"

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. Conway and Clea and the staff of mostly Masai people are outstanding. Our guide Martin was exceptional, not only in finding and identifying all kinds of fauna, but in his interest in African history. The Masai Mara area has an extraordinary number and variety of animals, and it is very beautiful, especially along the Mara River. The visit to a Masai village was fascinating and we strongly recommend it. The setting of our tent #5 was stunning, overlooking the Telek River where we saw elephants, crocs, hippos and various antelope right from our front door. The camp food is terrific, with a fine selection of wines. Of the 8 camps we have stayed in, this is one of the best!"

What an experience!
We came to Matemwe for 4 days 'recovery' - before heading off on Safari and it was a great decision. We were pampered and so well fed on fresh local produce, offered excellent advice and received that wonderful Tanzanian 'welcome' everywhere we went.
After dinner, we took to the hammock slung in the porch of our lodge to chill out and to watch the brilliant display of stars and fireflies - magic!"

This was my second time at Rekero camp and it was just as amazing if not even better. Since my last visit all tents have been renewed and are more spacious and luxurious and very comfortable. There is also an additional lounge area with a deck right by the river which is really nice. Rekero Camp is the home away from home. The managers and other staff are truly amazing in making your stay very special. The food was excellent and the game drives with my guide Sammy very special. His knowledge is great and he told me a lot about his culture which is very interesting. This time I combined Rekero Camp with Naboisho Camp in the Naboisho Conservancy which was the perfect combination! I would always come back to this special place right at the Talek river."

Fantastic place to visit
My wife and I decided on Matemwe retreat for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were met by Martin, our butler, who took us through to our villa Nuru. The place is amazing and was certainly everything we had hoped for! Everything and anything is catered for and Martin went out of his way to ensure that we had the most memorable honeymoon. We will certainly be back next year as Matemwe just allows you to get away from everything and relax. Thanks to all the staff that made our honeymoon unforgettable and especially Martin for an unbelievable experience!"

Our stay at Kwihala was a magical one.
We stayed 8 nights in February 2014. Our stay at Kwihala was a magical one that was made special by both the staff and the guides who took such great care of us. We were woken up each morning with tea and coffee on a table outside, then took a walk to our open top Land Cruisers to start our morning safari, we were served a light breakfast on the bonnet after returning to our safari. These morning safaris were truly amazing and I cant stress enough the importance of booking at least one for your stay at Kwihala! "

We recently stayed at the Matemwe Lodge after an African Safari in Tanzania. I can not say enough about what a wonderful time we had there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. We had a plunge pool next to our room, and alternated between the hammock, chaise lounges, and the pool. After that we had scrumptious meals, expertly prepared by their chefs, with fresh fish and vegetables every night. The grounds are beautiful as well. We went snorkeling at the Mnemba Atoll, which I recommend highly. Also had a massage-can't get any better than this!"

A Must Visit!
One of the best places I have stayed on many different levels. Service faultless from management down (and I am pretty critical in this area). Furthermore, everyone is a character - the askaris are great fun, the guide (ours was Daniel) was the best I have come across out of the three safaris I have been on. We were the first to the game most times.
Food fantastic - tasty and delicious. I think all the food was based on local specialities or derivatives thereof.
Tents extremely comfortable and you have everything you want. It is a great experience - you are almost certainly going to eye ball a hippo or elephant from a few paces if you do.
Game drives spot on - we saw everything, breakfasts in the bush every day, sundowners in secluded spots and a guide who truly knows every animal, bird and sound however far away.
Finally Location - I can't see how you are going to find better in the Mara. Next to a river, secluded but with game all around you - just perfect.
To sum up, if you want a true safari experience where you are in the thick of the action during the day and the night and you value exceptional service, great food and wine, then look no further."
