Migration Monday Update - 17 June 2014Our migration Monday update this week comes to us from Sayari Camp as well as Olakira Camp in the Northern Serengeti as well as Naboisho Camp in Kenya. Thanks to Olakira Camp for the nice photo showing some of the first herds of Wildebeest arriving in the North Serengeti as well as from Roelof Schutte showing large groups of Wildebeest already in the Mara, taken from Observation Hill.

It seems that a big part of the Migration has already crossed the Sand River, North East from Olakira, as well as further up the Mara river as there are good numbers of Wildebeest in the Mara, but not all. In the North of the Serengeti around Sayari and Olakira there are some smaller herds that are slowly moving towards the Njamalumbwa hills, on the Eastern boundary of the park and Kenya. This movement is typical for this time of the year as more herds will arrive in the area from the Southern parts of the Park. Around July/August is when the crossings will increase as they criss-cross between Kenya and Tanzania depending on where it rains the most.

If you have never seen Wildebeest crossings, the time of the year is almost here now, so come and join us, Karibu!
