Photographers stay at Rekero

As a serious amateur wildlife photographer, I got exactly what I wanted: 4 fantastic days with hot coffee in my luxurious tent at 6am, escorted to my vehicle by 6:30 for first light photo opportunities with my driver/guide Martin and spotter Risa. I thought I was pretty good at spotting game but these two had me feeling like a beginner, they were excellent."

A wonderful and tantalisingly brief stay. We will definitely be back!"

“Matemwe is on the last strip of sand before the beaches give way to cliffs on the dry north-east coast of the island, which feels very unspoilt (in neighbouring Matemwe village, people still make their living from fishing and selling coconuts). It is honeymoon heaven here. Overlooking a shallow, rocky lagoon fringed by a coral reef, the double-storey thatched villas are wonderful for hanging out in a hammock on your balcony, or taking a dip in your private rooftop pool while watching fleets of dugout canoes and dhows sail with the tide.

Jackson Looseyia: most highly respected

The Maasai Mara is one of luckiest National Reserves in Kenya. With the Serengeti on the south and to its north seven well managed conservancies it is at the very heart of one of the world’s greatest ecosystems. However the human encroachment, through both tourism and pastoral, continues to threaten the reserve. These conservancies are the best thing I have seen in 20 years. It clearly shows and is proving daily that by reversing the destruction of habitat that we can bring back the glory of our childhood."
