Tarangire National Park

Why go on a Tarangire safari

Tarangire National Park offers a chance to witness the Big 5, Tanzania's largest concentration of elephant, and over 500 bird species. Despite being less popular than the Serengeti, it is perfect for travellers seeking tranquillity and ample space.

The park features breathtaking views of granite ridges, river valleys, woodlands, savannahs, and swamps. Enjoy exciting game drives to see these landscapes and then embark on a walking safari to observe tiny creatures and learn about animal tracking. Alternatively, take to the skies in a hot-air balloon at dawn or go on a thrilling night drive to spot nocturnal wildlife. You can also find large herds of elephant, over 300 strong, buffalo, and thriving populations of lion and leopard.

Tarangire National Park is a beautiful destination south of Lake Manyara in northern Tanzania. The region offers breathtaking sights of colossal baobabs, expanses of grassy plains, and large elephant herds. It is conveniently located near Arusha and attracts comparably fewer tourists, which makes it one of Tanzania's most underrated and tranquil destinations. During the dry season, Tarangire boasts the greatest concentration of mammals in the country, including wild dog, rare antelope such as gerenuk, and over 500 species of birds. To fully explore Tarangire, you can stay at Asilia Africa's boutique Oliver's Camp, strategically positioned in the remote far south of the park.
