The Wonders of a Walking Safari

By Wandering Maasai | 14 January 2015

Getting up close and personal with a leopard tortoise, and a leopard during a afternoon walk yesterday. Among many other wonderful things, we spent time with a elephant herd, buffalo herd, saw some lions and had an incredible leopard sighting on this walk!We saw a beautiful female leopard appeared out of the croton thicket, stalking and then walked out in the open, as if we were not there!

We sat entranced, watching a female leopard stalking a female bushbuck a mere 40m from us! Alerted by impalas and shortly after dwarf mongoose, we saw a beautiful female leopard appeared out of the croton thicket, stalking and then walked out in the open, as if we were not there!

The buffaloes, chased by the nearby elephant herd saw the leopard and chased her off! And in the distance – behind this, 2 lionesses just to top it all. No camera shutters were released, as it was too tense, too adrenalin packed and close! The leopard tortoise will have to do!

“What a privilege and experience for our guests to walk with this bull Elephant.” Photo by Roelof Schutte
