16 reasons why The Great Wildebeest Migration should be on your Bucket List

By Wandering Maasai | 06 June 2016

One of nature’s greatest spectacles, the great wildebeest migration is one of the most sought after wildlife experiences for travellers all over the globe.

Every year, over one million wildebeest, zebra and antelope move through Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara in a continuous cycle of life and death, as they search for better water and grass resources.

During the annual migration, the herds will cross the Mara River, crossing an international border between Kenya and Tanzania. The herds will enter the Masai Mara from the Serengeti side of the Mara River, passing through Nile crocodile-infested waters and avoiding predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard lying in wait.

If you’re planning a Kenya safari, here are 16 reasons why the great wildebeest migration should be on your bucket list.

Don’t miss the finale of Ben Fogle’s Great African Migration tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm.

#repost @apextribune.com “One of ‘Seven Natural Wonders’ and it’s truly a spectacular display of nature traveling through the circle of life.” “Nowhere in the world is there a movement of animals as large as the migration of Africa’s millions of wildebeest and other grazing herbivores. They trace a clockwise circuit of East Africa’s great grassland plains, following the rain and the ripening grasses. It is one of natures sights that has never ceased to amaze.” #wildlife #wildebeest #thegreatmigration #beautiful #naturelovers #wildlife_perfection #instanature #crossing #serengeti #mara #tanzania #natgeowild #safari #wildebeestmigration #brutal #nature #wildlifeplanet #sevenwonders #crocodile #africa
