So you’ve heard about our extra special fly camping experience but you still have a few questions that need to be answered before you go ahead and book this intimate and adventurous activity. Not to worry, we have some of the most frequent questions answered for you!

Available from:Naboisho Camp& Encounter Mara.

How do you get there? On foot or by vehicle, depending on which camp you are staying at.

What do we sleep in? Our camps make use of a comfortable, small tent which gives you a real “in-the-bush” feel. You’ll fall asleep on a cosy mattress with all the basics you may need right at your side.

What facilities are there? When it comes time for a shower, you’ll truly feel one with nature while enjoying the bucket shower which hangs from a nearby tree using water heated up by the sun’s rays. There is also a “short drop” toilet with a conventional seat to make you feel right at home!

You’ll want for nothing while fly camping – revel in the experience!

Where do we camp? Many different areas! This is all according to seasonality and, of course, whatever your personal safari interests may be. All of our areas are beautiful and wild.Naboisho Camp & Encounter Mara call the Greater Masai Mara home, specifically the Mara Naboisho Conservancy.

Are we safe? Yes, fly camping is very safe. Our guides are specifically trained in safe camping procedures and dealing with big game in a fly camp environment.

What do we eat and drink? On arrival, you’ll enjoy some delicious snacks to accompany your sundowner – our bar will be fully stocked with your favourites! Dinner is a fire-cooked meal beneath the stars – what could be better? When morning breaks, breakfast can be packed to enjoy as a picnic during your game drive, or you can choose to head straight back to camp and enjoy a cooked breakfast there. You can also choose to spend a few more hours at your special camp and enjoy breakfast right there in the bush, cooked over the fire.

The most delicious meals cooked on an open fire.

How many people can fly camp? We like to keep the fly camping experience intimate so we cater for a maximum of 6 guests, sharing in three tents.

What happens if the weather is bad or we change our minds about fly camping? Your room back at camp is kept for you on the night you choose to fly camp. If, for any reason, we have to go back to camp, your room will be waiting for you.

Is it a private camp?: While the option is open to other guests joining you on your fly camping experience, we always try to make sure that your own adventure is private. If you are particular about having the experience to yourself, please do mention this when making an enquiry and we will do all we can to make it happen.

We have multiple days in camp, which day will we go fly camping?: The actual day of fly camping will be determined with you during your stay. This often depends on the weather as well as site preference. Your camp manager will make sure that it is the best possible experience during your stay. Under normal circumstances, we don’t recommend fly camping on your last day in camp due to logistical reasons so it generally takes place in the middle of your stay with us.

Age limit: As our fly camp experience generally involves bush walks, a minimum age of 16 is required for all of our fly camp guests.
