In the heart of Tanzania‘s Serengeti National Park lies a truly unique safari experience. The only all-female run safari camp in the region, and the first in Africa,Dunia,is a shining beacon for the empowerment of women.

In support of International Women’s Month which is celebrated during March each year, we want to show some love to our women of Dunia. This year’s theme is #EachforEqual which highlights the message of an equal world being an enabled world. The ladies are not only breaking gender stereotypes within their communities but in the tourism industry in East Africa. They are serving as an example to young women by encouraging and motivating them to do the same.

The remarkable team of ladies haven’t always had the easiest time in getting acceptance from their family and community members, however, their determination and persistence are changing attitudes and inspiring a future generation of powerful African women. The team are a shining example for many young girls back home. We are incredibly proud to have such a strong and inspiring team of women running the camp and empowering other women to follow in their footsteps.

Our women of Dunia recently featured in the annual Empowers Africa​ event which honoured three female change-makers working in the African conservation space including the ladies of Dunia and their manager Angel Vendeline Namshali.

A New Look at Dunia

In early 2020, Dunia received a stunning upgrade. The camp offers the ideal base for an epic Serengeti safari. Dunia is situated on a major wildebeest migration corridor in the Central Serengeti, which means superb sightings of the migratory herds, as well as big cats, rhino, elephant, and more, are never too far. The eight spacious bedrooms now have much larger private decks for you to enjoy a quiet moment and soak up the views of the Serengeti that lay ahead of you. The lounge area and dining areas have also been extended, they are much more spacious and received a brand-new look as well.

The brand-new family tent at Dunia makes it the perfect place for any family to spend time on their East African adventure. The large room hasseparate bedrooms as well as a bathroom for the kids, a large private deck area, and can comfortably accommodate a family of up to five people.
