Things to do at Crater Lodge

andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater lodge is not only an idyllic location for relaxation, but a great base for a range of exciting activities. Children aged 6 and above will find a variety of child-friendly activities to enjoy.

Game drives

Guests staying at the lodge can explore the crater and its diverse ecosystem. There is an abundance of plains game, so look carefully for lion in search of their next meal, with hyena hot on their heels. A definite highlight is the chance to catch sight of the critically endangered black rhino one of the few places in the world where you can do so.

Ngorongoro Crater dining

Dine in style, as you arrive to a banquet prepared just for you on the crater floor. Watch monkeys teasing and chasing each other as you tuck into fresh salads and homemade delights.

Olduvai Gorge and the Shifting Sands

Take a step back in time as you visit the Cradle of Mankind. A world-famous display of fossils tells the story of the first humans who once stood where you do now. Marvel at the phenomenon of the shifting sands  blazing white heaps of volcanic ash that blow in the wind, slowly creeping across the plains of the Serengeti.

Walking safaris

Set out on foot to take in the dramatic contours of the land, side by side with the nomadic Maasai who herd their cattle. Guests may enjoy a guided walk to the Empakaai Crater, Ngorongoro’s smaller, but equally beautiful, neighbour.
