The oasis-like swimming pool with its palm trees is the best place to while away a hot afternoon. Take the opportunity to indulge in the spa facilities or, if you’re feeling energetic, use the state-of-the-art bush gym.  

In the mornings and evenings, the nearby waterhole attracts animals searching for a cool and refreshing drink. Savour a cool glass of wine as you look out for the monkeys playing at the water’s edge and the antelope prancing. The lodge’s central viewing deck offers dramatic views of the open plains and the glass-like waters of Lake Manyara. In the wet season, flocks of flamingos enjoying the shallow waters give the lake a pink hue. 

Rooms

Chem Chem offers eight luxurious tented suites, each with incredible views of the natural surroundings. They are set well apart, to ensure complete seclusion and privacy. Featuring stylish combinations of wood, canvas, cotton and lava rock, these tented havens are beautifully decorated with a classic safari feel. Each one has a spacious veranda decked with comfortable chairs and a chaise longue, an inviting spot to spend a lazy few hours.  

En suite bathrooms include indoor and outdoor showers, as well as deep baths with a selection of bath salts and complimentary toiletries. Fluffy dressing gowns and hairdryers are also available.  

Each suite is equipped with a small Moleskine notebook and other stationery for jotting down the highlights of your day. A minibar is filled with bottles of Pellegrino to quench your thirst after you’ve sampled the assortment of homemade treats laid out for you.
