When to Travel
When to Travel to Kimondo Migration Camp
Kimondo Camp follows the wildebeest herds through the Serengeti, meaning you can see the Great Migration any time of year. July and August are the busiest months for tourism in the Serengeti, so we recommend travelling outside this period if possible. January, February, September and October are great months to visit. The camp is closed from mid-March through mid-June and during the month of November.
Why travel at this time
Kimondo is based in the southern Serengeti until mid-March, where the wildebeest are grazing and calving. There is usually a break in the rains during January and February and it’s a quieter time for tourism. Migratory birds are in the region now, too.
Climate
The long rains begin in March, which is when Kimondo packs up and prepares to move with the migration. There will likely be some showers in January and February, too. The average temperature high is 27°C/81°F and the low is around 15°C/59°F.
