Tipilikwani Mara Camp Experience

Mornings begin with an early wake-up call with tea and coffee, setting off as the sun creeps above the horizon on a game drive to see what wildlife you can find. Look for lion strolling after their nighttime forays before they retreat to the shade in the heat of the day, and enjoy the morning birdsong chorus. Game drives are in open-sided vehicles with a roof for shade, and activities are shared with other guests with a maximum of six per vehicle.

Each day on safari here will be different, depending on wildlife movements, and if you have a particular interest, for example, you want to see hippos wallowing, your guide will do their best to take you to the right areas. Return to camp in the late morning for some time to relax by the pool before lunch, and perhaps a siesta if you need to rest. In the middle of the afternoon, you will set off again for an afternoon drive, stopping as the sun starts to set for a sundowner before returning to camp. Freshen up and head to the campfire for pre-dinner drinks and a three-course dinner in the dining room.

Rooms

Accommodation at Tipilikwani Mara Camp consists of twenty tented rooms overlooking the Talek River and decorated with neutral safari colours and accents of warm Maasai reds. Each is raised up on wooden decking, with a balcony and safari chairs to the front. Inside is a king-size or twin beds, as well as a small desk and chair. A curtain leads to the en suite bathroom to the back of the tent which features hot and cold running water, with a shower, flush toilet, and twin basins.

The family tents are two full-size tents on one large wooden deck, sharing a large balcony to the front. They are set up as one king-size room and one twin room, and one bathroom has a bathtub.
