Why Visit Nairobi on your Kenya Safari

About Nairobi

Kenya's capital city, Nairobi, in the country’s south, is vibrant and welcoming, and offers a glimpse into the rich diversity of East Africa.

You will be captivated by its charm and beauty. Whether you enjoy different cultures, wildlife, or cuisines, you will find something to tantalise your senses. Delight in a Nairobi safari at the Nairobi National Park. Spot lion, leopard, rhino, and more as you explore the park against a unique city backdrop. Visit the Karen Blixen Museum and step into the world of the author of “Out of Africa”. See her home and learn about the Kikuyu people who helped her manage her coffee farm. Don’t miss the chance to meet the adorable, orphaned elephant and rhino at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Watch them play, feed, and bathe as they are lovingly cared for by their devoted keepers. Relish in the diverse flavours of Nairobi’s food scene, from traditional Kenyan dishes to international cuisines.

Nairobi Safety

Like in most large cities, it’s always good to be vigilant when visiting Nairobi. The tourist areas of the city are relatively safe to visit, but walking around alone at night is discouraged.

It’s a good idea to not carry valuables with you if you can avoid it. Be aware of your bags and pockets – there are a number of pickpockets and scam artists that try to prey on tourists at local hotspots.

Most importantly, if you’re ever unsure of which areas should be avoided, ask at your hotel.
