Meet The Team: Doris Ngemera – Public Relations and Positive Impact Coordinator

Tell us a bit about yourself and what it is that you do?

My name is Doris Ngemera, and I would describe myself as charismatic and persuasive. I’m a Public Relations practitioner and Positive Impact Coordinator offering expertise in media relations, public relations as well as conference/events management.

Where is home and what brought you to Africa?

I was born and raised in Arusha, Tanzania. Africa is home.

How did your journey with Asilia begin?

My journey with Asilia has only just begun, it’s been 7 months now and the experience with Asilia has been tremendous. The new role is exciting and I am really looking forward to learning more about Tourism. I am delighted to work for Asilia because it cares for tomorrow’s tourism. The team is always friendly and helpful and I have learned a lot from everyone.

What does “Positive Impact” mean to you?

To me, Positive Impact is all about the favourable effect we as Asilia can have on the communities surrounding us. This is done through sustainable tourism that can be promoted and communicated through conservation and community projects. I believe sustainability & success is not only about being the best in the world,but being the best for the world – by protecting the heritage so that the world is good for people, the planet, and so that we can all profit.

What is the most enjoyable thing about your work?

Networking and being able to donate to our local schools by donatinguniforms and desks that put a smile on a child/student’s face.

Who is the woman you admire most and why?

Mymom is my role model, I admire her for her bravery and her incredible love and care as a mother. I admire her tireless efforts of taking care of us, she grew us up to be a responsible motherof tomorrow and future leaders. I admire her more because she is a sister, a friend, a teacher and a hero to me. She is always there whenever I need her. She is very caring, ambitious and she has many goals in her life. She is also a wonderful mother, very patient, sensitive and warm-hearted.
