Lewa House is set on top of a hill with an engaging panoramic view of the rolling landscape of the Lewa Conservancy, with Mount Kenya to the south and the rugged Mathews Range and the sacred mountain of Ol Olokwe to the north.
The accommodation at Lewa House is in the form of cottage-style rooms which are spread out along the hillside, all looking to the expanse of wilderness to the north. The heart of the property is a large, elegant building with an open fireplace at one end where guests can relax during the day and mingle with a drink before dinner, and at the other is a large family dining table where the evening meals are served.
Beautiful, shaded gardens surround the house and breakfast, or lunch is often served on the lawn. The house also has a large swimming pool that overlooks a waterhole providing some of the best game viewings on Lewa.
Lewa's wide range of ecosystems provides a naturally rich wildlife experience. All of the Big 5 are found on Lewa, making up some of the 70 animal species and 350 bird species found here.

We had 4 wonderful days at Lewa House in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. This place was suggested by our travel agent, Aardvark Safaris in England, and was an excellent choice. Because it is owned and run by a family, it has a much more homey feel than most lodges. We stayed in an earthpod room with a shaded veranda close to a watering hole with game very near, although outside the electric fences. The room was very spacious and well-appointed with lots of space to store or hang clothes. They even had an outdoor bathtub you could use in addition to the indoor shower. Breakfast is served outside in view of the water hole. Lunch is in a semi-open space beside the swimming pool.
My husband and I just returned from Kenya. We stayed at 3 camps and Lewa House was our favorite. The siting of the place overlooking a watering hole was spectacular as was the architecture and furnishing of the main lodge and our earthpod. Our guide Wifred, and David were wonderful - they went above and beyond for us on the daily drives and even taught us some Swahili. We had so much fun together. The charming owners, Sophie and Calum dined with us each evening (food was delicious!) and regaled us with the most entertaining stories of Sophie’s family history and life in Kenya. Lewa House is truly one of those places where we don't have enough words to describe how wonderful it is. From the time we were collected at the gate by our wonderful guide Wilson, to getting to our 'home' for the next two days till the moment we left, we had a magical time. The property itself is quite unique and we loved our Earth Pod rooms - they are super spacious and really well laid out and there is something truly relaxing about being in them. The common areas are also great and we loved the chilled out atmosphere about Lewa House. The hosts (though we did not get to meet Calum on this trip) are wonderful. ...We had a fantastic time. Callum and Sophie are wonderful hosts, extremely welcoming and kind. They answered many of my questions before my stay as I was concerned about things due to last years lockdown which occurred just before we traveled. Callum has a lot of great stories. One night we enjoyed dinner outside under the stars with them in the most beautiful setting. We stayed in an Earthpod which was really nice. It was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and the shower had very good temperature and pressure. I really liked our guide Rufus. Very nice and he worked very hard to find animals on our drives...
