A 6-night Journey from the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara
This diverse Kenya itinerary explores the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley before continuing to the iconic plains of the Maasai Mara. Beginning in Nairobi, the route travels northwest into the Rift Valley, where lakes, escarpments and acacia woodlands create a striking backdrop for wildlife viewing. From here, continue to the Maasai Mara, one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations, known for its abundant wildlife and sweeping savannahs.
Travelling with a dedicated guide for the road portion of the journey ensures a personalised and immersive experience, while the option to fly into the Mara offers both convenience and a change of perspective as the landscapes unfold below.

Itinerary Details
- Arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
- Transfer to your hotel
- Overnight at Emara Ole Sereni or Karen Blixen Cottages
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your selected hotel for an overnight stay.
Depending on your arrival time, enjoy views across Nairobi National Park or relax in the peaceful surroundings of your accommodation ahead of your safari beginning the following morning.

After breakfast, meet your guide and depart Nairobi in your private safari vehicle, descending into the Great Rift Valley. The journey offers sweeping views across the escarpment and a changing landscape of farmland, lakes and open savannah.
Arrive at your lodge near Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch, before heading out on an afternoon game drive. The park is known for its populations of both black and white rhino, as well as Rothschild’s giraffe, lion and a variety of plains game. The lake itself attracts an abundance of birdlife, including pelicans and seasonal flocks of flamingo.
The following day is spent exploring the park with morning and afternoon game drives, returning to camp in the heat of the day to relax and take in the surrounding scenery.

After breakfast, continue your journey towards the Maasai Mara.
For Comfort guests, enjoy a scenic drive with your guide into the reserve, arriving in time to settle into camp and enjoy your first game drive.
For Classic guests, you will be transferred to Loldia Airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Mara, where you will be met and transferred to your lodge, enjoying a game drive en route.
The Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations, offering exceptional year-round game viewing. Its open plains are home to large populations of lion, cheetah, elephant and an abundance of plains game. During the migration season, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move through the ecosystem, creating one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles.
Days are spent exploring the reserve on morning and afternoon game drives, with time to relax in camp between activities.

After a final morning in the bush, begin your journey back to Nairobi.
Comfort guests will enjoy a scenic drive back to the city with their guide, arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for onward travel.
Classic guests will transfer to the airstrip for their scheduled flight to Wilson Airport, followed by a road transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
