- Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn or Gran Meliá Arusha
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, one of Asilia’s guides will greet you with a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, refreshing bottled water, and a cool towel. You can expect a transfer time of approximately 40 minutes to Rivertrees Country Inn, or 70 minutes to Gran Meliá Arusha, during which time you can chat with your driver about the surrounding areas.
If you arrive early enough, you can relax beside the pool with a good book or enjoy a massage to alleviate post-flight tension. Both hotels offer a range of local and international cuisine to cater to all tastes, ensuring you have a satisfying dinner before retiring for a restful sleep.
- Fly to Manyara Airstrip
- Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
- Overnight at Entamanu Ngorongoro or Osonjoi Lodge
After breakfast, you will be met by an Asilia driver and transferred to Arusha Airport. It’s a short flight to Manyara Airstrip, where you will be met by a safari guide from your chosen accommodation option. The drive to the crater rim will pass through the bustling town of Karatu and into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The steep road ascends the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater through a lush and dense forest until you arrive on the crater rim road with a spectacular view of the crater. Stop here for photographs and the opportunity to stretch your legs. Continue around the crater rim, making your way towards your safari lodge. On arrival, there’s a late lunch waiting for you, with the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure to enjoy the views from your suite.
- Crater Descent and Game Drive
- Overnight at Entamanu Ngorongoro or Osonjoi Lodge
You’re up before sunrise to be among the first vehicles on the crater floor. You’ll depart from camp in the pre-sunrise chill, bundled under warm jackets and Maasai blankets. However, the cold will soon be forgotten as you go down the inner walls of the unbroken caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater. Once on the crater floor, you can have coffee and some breakfast snacks to keep you going through the morning while enjoying the game drive experience in this unique location. Seek out the resident wildlife which includes black rhino, lion, elephant, and buffalo. You can have a picnic lunch next to the hippo pool, where grunting rafts of hippo will keep you company while you refuel. By mid-afternoon, it’s time to start the journey up the caldera walls to the rim and return to camp to freshen up, enjoy a drink in the bar, and share all your exciting safari stories from the day with fellow adventurers before dinner.
- Fly to the Serengeti
- Transfer to your safari lodge
- Overnight at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge or Mwiba Lodge
After an early breakfast, depart from camp making your way back around the crater rim and down the outer walls towards Manyara Airstrip. Connect with your flight to either Seronera Airstrip or Mwiba Airstrip, where a safari guide will be waiting to greet you. Enjoy your first look at your new surroundings as you transfer to camp, arriving in time for a delicious lunch and the opportunity to freshen up and settle in, before embarking on an exhilarating afternoon game drive.
A sumptuous dinner in camp will bring the day to a close. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the surrounding bush from the warmth and comfort of your bed.
From Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, or relax in camp alongside the spacious swimming pool. After a morning game drive, consider a soothing massage to work out the bumps of the road. From Mwiba Lodge, in addition to game drives, walking safaris are also included, best enjoyed in the early morning before the heat of the day begins to climb. There are also the additional options of enjoying a cultural experience with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, or taking in a night game drive within the Mwiba Concession in search of elusive nocturnal species. Should an afternoon in camp be needed to rest and recharge, there are plenty of comfortable spots where one can relax in style.
- Flight to Zanzibar
- Transfer to the coast
- Overnight at Breezes Beach Club & Spa or Xanadu Luxury Villas
Once you have enjoyed your final breakfast in camp, head to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. The plane may stop at various airstrips to pick up and drop off passengers, but you will eventually arrive in the early afternoon. The camp will provide you with a packed lunch for the journey. Upon arrival, a driver will meet you for your private transfer to the coast. Take time to relax, unwind and enjoy the rhythm of island life at your own pace.
Widely recognised as one of the best hotels in Zanzibar, Breezes Beach Club & Spa is a perfect escape for a breakaway that can be as relaxed or as activity-filled as you wish. Soak up the view of the ocean from a sun-lounger on the beach, or relax in the swimming pool with a cold drink close at hand. When the mood takes, enjoy a variety of available watersports, including sailing, kayaking, reef walks, and snorkelling.
From Xanadu, there are a wide range of activities to enjoy on Zanzibar Island. Explore the underwater world at the dive centre and learn about the local culture with a Swahili cooking class or palm weaving on the beach. If you’re feeling adventurous, try out different water sports such as snorkelling or kite surfing. A romantic lunch on your private sandbank, “Infinity Island,” is an essential experience for couples. You can also take a fascinating and informative walking tour of Stone Town to admire the intricately carved ancient doors and explore the narrow pathways through the melting pot of architectural influences.
