8-day Samburu & Mara Safari

This varied adventure takes you from the bustling capital of Nairobi to the rust-red landscapes of Samburu and the wildlife-rich plains of the Maasai Mara. Itinerary Details

Day 1: Prepare for Head-Spinning Adventures and Variety
  • We will meet you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport 
  • Overnight at Eka Hotel

You will be welcomed off your flight at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to Eka Hotel for your overnight stay before launching into your safari. Take this opportunity to relax, recoup and recover from your flight. Eka Hotel is conveniently located just 5-minutes from the international airport, providing a comfortable and convenient overnight stay in Nairobi.

Day 2 – 4: Discover Samburu: Where Nature and Culture Mingle
  • Fly to Samburu National Reserve 
  • Overnight at Basecamp Samburu

You leave Nairobi by taking a light aircraft flight to Samburu National Reserve. Enjoy spectacular views of the snow-capped Mount Kenya as you fly north. Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by a guide from camp and transferred to Basecamp Samburu, where you can relax, settle in and enjoy the incredible surroundings. 

Samburu National Reserve is a fantastic location to begin your safari. The Ewaso Ngiro River attracts a variety of animals that can be seen congregating at this lifeline to the reserve. You can spot the Samburu Big 5, which includes the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich, as well as more than 400 types of birds.

Elevated star beds at Saruni Basecamp offer a night beneath a canopy of constellations. Activities include night and day game drives, guided bush walks, and rich cultural immersion.

Day 5 – 7: Maasai Mara: The Ultimate Safari Destination
  • Fly to Olkiombo Airstrip
  • Overnight at Tipilikwani Mara

Leave Samburu behind as you depart for the next exciting stop on your Kenyan safari adventure: the Maasai Mara Reserve. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to camp to settle in before your first game drive in this iconic wildlife area.

In the heart of the Maasai Mara, shaded by trees and overlooking the Talek river, you can connect to the wildlife all around you and to the adventurer in you from Tipilikwani Mara. The camp offers twice daily game drives across the plains led by Maasai guides, the opportunity for lazy siestas around the swimming pool, or the chance to engage in authentic cultural experiences with the Maasai.

Day 8: Farewell to Kenya: A Journey to Remember
  • Fly to Wilson Airport 
  • Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport 

After breakfast, pack your bags for your flight back to Nairobi. You will be met by your Asilia driver when you land at Wilson Airport and then transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This transfer takes approximately an hour, depending on traffic. It’s the end of your safari, and it’s time to check in for your flight home, carrying unforgettable memories of your journey in Kenya in your head and heart.
