10-day Spectacular Safari

Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of the East African landscapes, where our hand-picked camps offer you an extraordinary experience of luxury and ultimate safari adventure.

From spacious, elegant rooms to cosy libraries, refreshing rain showers to infinity swimming pools with breathtaking views, you will find everything you need and more at our exquisite camps. Pamper yourself with a professional spa treatment while gazing over the plains, watching zebra and gazelle, indulge in a fine selection of wines and spirits, and savour the delicious cuisine that will delight your taste buds after a day of exploring the savannahs.

The real magic of this itinerary is the location of each safari camp – each is nestled in one of the most exclusive and coveted destinations in Tanzania. The Classic option, operating exclusively during the high season months, journeys from the central Serengeti to the river-crossings of the north, before heading to southern Tanzania and the expansive wilderness of Ruaha national Park. The Reserve option follows a similar routing, starting in the predator paradise of the Serengeti’s eastern corridor, before venturing to the mighty Mara River where the Big Five roam freely all year round. Finally, you will visit the gem of the south, Ruaha National Park.

If you are looking for the very best of East African safari, look no further.

Day 1 – 3: Dunia Camp: The Ladies of Dunia
  • Meet at Kilimanjaro International Airport
  • Fly to Seronera Airstrip, Serengeti
  • Overnight Dunia Camp

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and assisted with the connection to your light aircraft flight to the Serengeti National Park. Upon your arrival at Seronera airstrip, you will be greeted by your Asilia guide and provided with a short introduction to the surrounding area. Transfer to camp, arriving in time for lunch, followed by the opportunity to settle in before venturing out for an afternoon game drive. Explore the famous granite boulders of Moru Kopjes and keep a lookout for the black rhino that call this area home. With access to a variety of key game viewing areas, Dunia Camp is ideally positioned to ensure a wildlife rich safari experience at any time of the year. Enjoy afternoon sundowners on the plains, before returning to camp for a delicious three-course dinner.

During the next few days, enjoy the phenomenal hospitality of the Dunia ladies and their intuitive service. Morning and afternoon game drives head out onto the open plains in search of elephant, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, lion, leopard, and cheetah. In camp, enjoy the views of the plains in front of camp from the comfort of your private veranda, or relax in the comfortable lounge, with a cold drink and a good book.

Day 4 – 6: Explore the Exclusive Lamai Wedge

After breakfast in camp, it’s time to wave goodbye to the smiling faces of Dunia as you depart with your guide for Seronera airstrip. It’s a short flight to the northern Serengeti, landing at Lamai airstrip on the exclusive Lamai Wedge, a pie shaped piece of land sandwiched between the Mara River and the Kenya border. A guide will meet you at the airstrip, welcome you to the northern Serengeti, and transfer you to Ubuntu Migration Camp, arriving in time for lunch under the trees. In the early afternoon, settle into your new surroundings before heading out to explore the grassy plains of Lamai and the busy riverbanks of the Mara River. Stop for a sundowner with a view of the river, before making your way back to camp in time to freshen up before fireside drinks and a delicious three-course dinner.

During the months from July to October, the herds of The Great Migration gather in the northern Serengeti. The majority of the herd will cross the Mara River onto the Lamai Wedge, then continue northwards into the plains of the Masai Mara. However, many wildebeest will remain either in Lamai, or will continue to cross back and forth through the treacherous river waters, seemingly in a state of confusion. There are fewer camps on the northern banks of the Mara River, making the Lamai Wedge an exclusive destination during a period that sees exceptionally high visitor numbers. In addition to the visiting zebra and wildebeest, there are resident cats and scavengers enjoying the high density of prey. Morning and afternoon game drives are actioned-packed during this incredible time of the year in the northern Serengeti.

Day 7 – 9: Visit Ruaha: Your Private Camp Awaits
  • Fly from Lamai to Msembe Airstrip
  • Overnight at Kokoko Camp

Enjoy a final breakfast in Ubuntu Migration Camp, before waiving goodbye as you transfer to Lamai airstrip for your flight to the wilderness of Ruaha National Park. You will be met at Msembe airstrip on arrival by your private guide, and transferred to the banks of the dry Mwagusi River where your exclusive-use camp awaits. Meet the team, then settle down for an al-fresco lunch under the trees. Discuss your interests with your private guide, and devise a plan for the next few days. There is no set structure around how the day needs to unfold, so your experience can be tailored to meet your preferences.

The dry season in Ruaha offers some of the best habitat for walking safaris in Africa, with stunning landscapes and a wide variety of wildlife. Early mornings are usually the best time for a walking safari as the conditions are cool and wildlife is typically more active. Enjoy afternoon game drives, or a second walking safari if the mood takes you. Watching the sun set between the iconic baobabs of Ruaha will be a sight to remember, before returning to camp for dinner around the fire and an evening under the stars in your private safari camp.

Day 10: Farewell to Tanzania!
  • Fly to Dar es Salaam

Enjoy your final breakfast before waving goodbye to Kokoko Camp and heading back to Msembe airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam, and onward travel.

Day 1 – 3: Namiri Plains: A Hidden Serengeti Jewel
  • Meet at Kilimanjaro International Airport
  • Fly to Seronera Airstrip, Serengeti
  • Overnight Namiri Plains

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and assisted with the connection to your light aircraft flight to the Serengeti National Park. Upon your arrival at Seronera airstrip, you will be greeted by your Asilia guide, who will take you on a scenic drive through the rolling savannahs of the eastern Serengeti. Once you arrive at the camp, you can settle into life at Namiri Plains and enjoy watching the wildlife from the stylish main area of the camp. Later in the afternoon, you can explore this exclusive corner of the famous Serengeti on an afternoon game drive. You can also stop for your favourite sundowners alongside the magical and ancient Soit Le Motonyi rocks, offering spectacular views of the short grassy plains and the acacia woodlands. With not another soul in sight, you are entitled to feel like you are the only adventurers in the Serengeti!

Back in camp, enjoy a delicious three-course meal and listen to the sounds of the night as they unfold around you.

During your next few days, enjoy morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris from Namiri Plains, accompanied by our expert guides who know the grassy plains, kopjes, and acacia woodland like the back of their hands. Seek out the cheetah which prowl the vast flat grasslands, and lion prides lounging on kopjes, but don’t forget the other species, from giraffe and hippo to wildebeest and buffalo, as well as plentiful birdlife. You will return to camp during the day’s heat to relax by the pool or have a massage to revive you for the afternoon’s activities.

Day 4 – 6: Explore the Northern Serengeti on a Sayari Safari
  • Fly from Seronera to Kogatende Airstrip
  • Overnight Sayari Camp

After breakfast, it’s “kwaheri”, or “goodbye” in Swahili, to Namiri Plains, as you depart to the airstrip for your short flight to Kogatende Airstrip in the Northern Serengeti. On arrival, you will be met by a guide from Sayari and begin a game drive en route to camp. Once in camp, lunch will be served, and in the early afternoon, you can relax by the swimming pool or sample the beers produced in the Serengeti’s first solar powered micro-brewery. Later, head out for a game drive to explore this new region of the park. The terrain here is quite different to Namiri Plains, with riverine forests and grassy valleys to explore, and distant views of the Olololo Escarpment which runs all the way into Kenya’s Masai Mara. Return to camp to freshen up, before enjoying sundowners around a traditional safari campfire, followed by a decadent three-course dinner.

Depending on your preferences, there are various options regarding how your day can be structured. One option is to break camp early and head out for a picnic on a morning game drive, returning to camp in time for lunch. Enjoy another game drive in the afternoon, or relax by the pool with a good book. Alternatively, you can eat breakfast at camp and head out on your game drive with a picnic lunch, returning in the mid-afternoon. Game drives are enjoyed on a shared basis with other guests from camp, however, the camp will do everything possible to meet your ideal program. Private vehicle hire is an optional extra, increasing flexibility, but must be booked in advance. Hot air ballooning is another fantastic option to enhance your safari from Sayari, witnessing the wildlife and vast plains from the sky, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush.

Day 7 – 9: Visit Ruaha: Land of the Mighty Baobabs!
  • Fly from Kogatende to Msembe Airstrip
  • Overnight at Jabali Ridge

Today, you will fly south to the stunning and diverse Ruaha National Park. Upon your arrival at Msembe Airstrip, a guide will be waiting to greet you. Enjoy your first taste of this incredible park by game driving to Jabali Ridge, through the woodland and plains, and into the valley of baobab trees where the lodge is located. Settle into your suite and immerse yourself in the breathtaking views of the valley. After lunch, you can relax by the pool, or perhaps have a massage and then head out on an afternoon game drive following afternoon tea. After dark, enjoy a night game drive for a different perspective of Ruaha as you search for the nocturnal residents and marvel at the night sky.

Over the next few days, our managers and guides will discuss options, and you can decide how to spend your day. Walking safaris are a great way to start the day, as you can explore the environment and the wildlife during the more temperate morning hours. Breakfast and lunch can be enjoyed in camp, or in the bush as picnics during activities. The camp provides a welcoming and relaxed environment in which to spend time, soaking up the views from the swimming pool across the baobab forest, reading and spotting wildlife from your private sunken outdoor lounge, or getting pampered in the Asilia Spa.

Day 10: Farewell to Tanzania!
  • Fly to Dar es Salaam

Enjoy your final breakfast before waving goodbye to Jabali and heading back to Msembe for your flight to Dar es Salaam. You will land at the international airport, collect your luggage, and check-in for your international flight home, with your return visit already taking shape in your mind’s eye.
