Bring light to your Diwali celebrations as five of our camps create a special experience for you on safari.

What better than to combine the joy of Diwali with the adventure of an East African safari, where the Festival of Lights meets the wild, untamed beauty of nature. This year, why not trade the bustling cityscape for the tranquil savannahs and celebrate Diwali under the mesmerising skies of East Africa?

Diwali, the festival that symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, will be celebrated from 18 to 23 October 2025 (5 days), with five of our Tanzanian and Kenyan camps honouring Diwali in their own special way.
Jabali Ridge, Dunia, Sayari, Roho ya Selous, and Encounter Mara camps will be honouring the Festival of Lights on Monday 20 October 2025 to ensure that you feel at home during this special time, in the heart of the wilderness. Celebrations include:
- Special Diwali menu
- Beautiful lanterns and candles to light your dinners
- Captivating decorations
- Sweet treats
- Adaptations to any fasting requirements
- Sky full of stars (weather permitting)
Jabali Ridge, Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
Our award-winning camp, Jabali Ridge, is perched atop a rocky outcrop, perfectly blending bleached organic woods, African-inspired décor, and the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes and animals. Dine in our natural boma within the rocks, surrounded by a wall of lanterns as you celebrate Diwali. At the same time, our incredible infinity pool provides the perfect place to relax and gaze over the endless African bush.

Dunia Camp, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The team at Dunia Camp pays the highest attention to detail and is skilled at anticipating your every need – Diwali will be no different. The camp is directly in the path of the Great Wildebeest Migration, offering breathtaking landscapes and captivating year-round wildlife viewing. You can immerse yourself in the perfect blend of wildlife whilst watching for majestic big cats and the elusive black rhino in the Moru Kopjes.

Sayari Camp, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
As evening falls and the African sky is painted with hues of orange, pink and violet, the real magic begins at Sayari over Diwali. From November, the area provides serene exclusivity amongst black rhino and resident cats. Between walking safaris and twice-daily game drives, relax with a refreshing swim in our rim-flow pool and a soothing massage.

Roho ya Selous, Nyerere National Park, Tanzania
Set on the banks of Lake Nzerakera in the core wildlife viewing area of Nyerere National Park, Roho ya Selous provides a diverse and adventurous safari experience. Wildlife can frequently be observed from the comfort of camp, coming down to the water’s edge to drink, although a variety of activities are available to enhance your game viewing experience. Enjoy poolside dinners with lanterns in the trees, or fireside dining with your feet in the sand, accompanied by the grunts of hippo from across the water.

Encounter Mara Camp, Mara Naboisho Conservancy, Kenya
Naboisho means “coming together” in Maa, the language of the Maasai, making the Mara Naboisho Conservancy a fitting location to come together to celebrate the light of Diwali. One of only a handful of camps within this exclusive conservancy, Encounter Mara offers a boutique camp experience built on exceptional hospitality and superb guiding. Featuring a variety of lantern-lit or fireside dining locations, Encounter Mara will provide a Diwali celebration that recognises the importance of community.

Let campfires under the starry sky become your Diwali celebration hub where you can gather around with fellow travellers and share stories and traditional sweets crafted by our chefs with an East African twist.
