Save on summer departures to Rubondo Island this season
Save more than US$2,000 per person on set departure dates travelling from the Serengeti to Rubondo Island this August, September, and October 2022.
Why go?
What if, instead of heading to the coast after your Tanzanian safari, you could combine a beach-fringed island experience with some of Africa’s most unusual and surprising wildlife? Rubondo Island is the answer, located in Lake Victoria in the northwest of Tanzania. Offering a perfect contrast to the vast grasslands of the Serengeti, a stay here allows you to keep the sense of safari adventure very much alive. Sitatunga roam the wetlands near our camp, where you’ll also find spotted neck otters and a profusion of birdlife. The forests are home to elephant, giraffe and African grey parrot, as well as chimpanzee which are being habituated to tourist visits, a process you can be part of during your stay. Sightings of our primate cousins are now at more than 90% over a three night stay, but the island has so much more to offer beyond them. There are clouds of butterflies, one of Africa’s highest densities of fish eagles, pink sandy beaches and a truly Jurassic Park sense of untouched wilderness just waiting to be discovered.
How to get there?
There are now daily flights to Rubondo Island from the Serengeti, making access to this unique destination simpler than it’s ever been. Flying time is just one hour and 15 minutes.
Is there a more affordable way to get to the island?
Asilia has created some set departure dates to make adding three nights at Rubondo Island Camp simpler and offering some great savings over this upcoming high season.
If you combine at least one night in the central Serengeti, at either Dunia or Namiri Plains, followed by three nights at Rubondo Island Camp, you can save more than US$2,000 per person by travelling over the following dates:
- 11 - 15 August 2022
- 13 - 17 September 2022
- 9 – 13 October 2022
- 23 – 27 October 2022
These set departures start from US$4,722 per person based on two people travelling. Price based on a trip starting/ending at Kilimanjaro Airport, including light aircraft flights to the Serengeti and onwards to Rubondo Island return, one chimpanzee permit per person, all meals, house drinks and selected shared safari activities. Additional Asilia nights booked before or after this 4-day package on the same safari will receive an additional 7% discount on the accommodation rate.
We’ve created these set departures to share the magic of Rubondo with more of our intrepid travellers, and hope to see you on one of these trips in the near future!
