Away from Tanzania’s busy Northern Circuit, Chem Chem Lodge offers a secluded, laidback experience.
Chem Chem is the embodiment of the owners’ love for Africa. Fabia Bausch and Nicolas Negre longed to escape the constraints of their lives in Europe for the freedom and wilderness of Africa. Eventually, they both took the plunge and started over. They opened Chem Chem Lodge, which lies on the eastern edge of Lake Manyara and on the border of the exclusive Burunge Wildlife Management Area. With the lodge and its sister bush camps, they have achieved their goal of creating a coexistence between the tourism industry and local nomadic pastoralists.

Chem Chem was the highlight of our Safari. A beautiful property with 8 luxurious tents. The styling and interior decorating was fantastic. A lot of thought went into every detail. You have your own guide assigned to you. Our guide, Joseph was the best we had during our whole trip. He took us to a Maasai market and village. Chem Chem has their own private reserve which was wonderful. The camp makes you feel like you are their only guest. Our waiter took care of our our meals, some under the stars. We also enjoyed a proper sundowner, cocktails under the stars. It was a perfect way for us to finish our safari. Pampered in a five star manner, there was nothing not to love. - I7234NDjoem
We had the most incredible experience at Chem Chem. The facilities and location are gorgeous, the accommodations fabulous, the food delicious and the staff beyond compare. Jared and Francis could not have been more lovely and accommodating and we did such fun things - breakfast in the bush with a Maasai warrior, visiting a Maasai village, a walk to Lake Manyara to see the sunset.....all fantastic. And the animals!!! Spectacular. We absolutely can't wait to go back. - Nicole F
