It is now easier than ever before to fly to Rubondo Island Camp. There are multiple locations within the Serengeti which have direct flights to Rubondo Island and what makes this even better is the fact that these flights are as short as 40 minutes in total. Now there is absolutely no excuse to not visit the island if you’re already in the Serengeti!

Rubondo Island is a hidden gem found in the southwest corner of Lake Victoria – the island is so special that only a handful of park wardens, wildlife researchers, and camp staff call it home. This makes visiting Rubondo Island extra special and is somewhere every adventure-lover should visit. The only accommodation on the island is our Rubondo Island Camp, this small and exclusive camp consists of just eight waterfront cottages – all built by hand using traditional skills and local materials – that blend seamlessly into the verdant landscape. The only problem was that it was really tricky to get to the island – travel wasn’t easy and flights were limited, but all that has changed.

Our Serengeti Camps

This is quintessential Africa: vast rolling plains stretching as far as the eye can see dotted with gnarled acacia bushes, jagged kopjes and lush riverine habitat. The Serengeti National Park covers nearly 15 000km² in northwestern Tanzania between the Ngorongoro highlands and Lake Victoria. We have 6 properties in the Serengeti which have their own unique touches and experience, click through to find out more about each of them:

Convincing someone to visit the Serengeti is not very hard – there is so much to do and see, not to mention the epic adventure of being a part of The Great Migration which passes through the Serengeti throughout most of the year. While heart-stopping wildlife encounters and extraordinary sightings in the Serengeti are guaranteed, there are many ways to experience and learn more about this very special wilderness.
